If you've had the misfortune of fracturing a speed law and getting
caught, then you know the painful drill that's involved. You get your
ticket, and then decide whether to pay it or take your chances in Maryland District Court. If you opt to pay up, you cut a check, put it in the flimsy
provided envelope and hope you remember to stamp it and mail it. But
now you have another option. If you're comfortable with using a credit
card online, you may now do so to pay fines for common traffic violations.
Never mind that it's the middle of October and it's 85 degrees
outside. Winter is coming, right? Well that's what they say, and with
winter comes the flu. To head that off the County Department of Health
is offering free flu shots to county residents. Information on the

Tired of seeing those "singles" signs littering the corners throughout town? Or perhaps you're weary of seeing the "we buy houses" handbill stapled to the telephone poles. Well, there's no guarantee that you won't see any more of them, but at least now the county has the authority to yank them down. And inmates from the Ordnance Road Correctional Center will do the yanking.
We learned from one of the owners of the break-ins near St. Philip Neri that police have apprehended a 16-year old who was positively identified as one of the two criminals who broke into the houses on Homewood and Wilben Roads. The homeowner spoke with the Northern District Police Station's
Detective Paine, who said the suspect was caught after he took a bag
full of coins to Shoppers Food Warehouse to convert to dollars. Broken
glass got into the change machine and ruined it, so management there
became suspicious and reported it to police. ...
Adult day care facilities in Maryland are rare, but Linthicum recently became home to one when "Foundations" moved here from Reisterstown. The new Linthicum-based 17,000 square foot facility is rarer still because it offers psychiatric services, making it the only such facility in the Baltimore-Washington area. Adult day-care services provide structured programs geared toward adults who are unable to care for themselves either because of a disability or other impairment. The building is licensed for 120 patients and has about 80 to 100
coming there on a daily basis, a 25 percent increase from its numbers
in Baltimore County, according to The Capital. Foundations will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the new location: 1025 West Nursery Road, Suite 112, Linthicum.
